Presenting ...
... a weekly letter of encouragement.

Good Morning!
GOD HAS THE UNCOMFORTABLE HABIT OF PUTTING HIS HANDS ON THE WRONG PERSON.
According to our way of thinking, God should be choosing the people He uses by the same criterion you and I would utilize in selecting executive leadership: The well educated, articulate, and well bred; those with a high performance track record. People with bearing.
Not so in God's selection process:
Throughout the Book of Genesis, for example, God continually chose the weaker and younger:
- Abel is chosen over older brother Cain; Issac over older brother Ishmael (Genesis 4:1-8; 17:18, 19).
- Rachael is chosen over her older sister Leah (Genesis 29:18).
- Seth, Jacob, Joseph and Judah are all chosen over their older brothers (Genesis 4:26-5:8; Romans 9:12; Genesis 37:3; 49:8).
In like fashion, God elected a teen-age girl of humble origins to bear the baby Jesus. As an adult, Christ by-passed the elite and gravitated toward common folks, the laboring class, rabble-rousers and "street people."
IN OBSERVING GOD'S TACTICS, CAN THERE BE ANY DOUBT IN OUR MINDS THAT HE INTENDS TO DESTROY MAN'S PRIDE IN ORDER TO EXHIBIT HIS GLORY?
"But God has chosen what the world calls foolish to shame the wise; He has chosen what the world calls weak to shame the strong. He has chosen things of little strength and small repute, yes and even things which have no real existence to explode the pretensions of the things that are-that no man may boast in the presence of God." (I Corinthians 1:27 - 29 - Phillips Translation).
So today, as you go about your business, keep in mind the fact that:
- You don't have to be a spiritual Arnold Schwartzenegger to be used of God.
- God tends to be fussy about sharing His glory with others.
"Thus saith the Lord, LET NOT THE WISE MAN GLORY IN HIS WISDOM, NEITHER LET THE MIGHTY MAN GLORY IN HIS MIGHT, LET NOT THE RICH MAN GLORY IN HIS RICHES: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord." (Jeremiah 9:23-24)
My prayer is that you are having a great week!
