Presenting ...
... a weekly letter of encouragement.
July 19, 1993
Good Morning!
Last week we identified three qualities God is looking for in our lives that signal maturity:
FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE.
In a world filled with DESPAIR, is it possible to have HOPE?
Before finding Christ we were "...without hope and without God..." (Ephesians 2:12)
Life was a dead end street, void of any spiritual dimension: HOPELESS.
No wonder Henry Thoreau made the penetrating observation that, "Most men live lives of quiet desperation."
Then you received Christ: "Christ in you (became) the HOPE of glory." (Col. 1:27)
e.g. Having the eternal Christ within you and knowing that together you
were headed into eternity, you now have HOPE.
In practical terms, this HOPE has at least three implications:
(1) "For I know the plans I have for you...plans for welfare and not for evil,
to give you a future and a HOPE." (Jeremiah 29:11)
Today, you can trust God in the fact that He has a game plan for your life..
(2) "This HOPE we have as an anchor of the soul, a HOPE both sure
and steadfast..." (Hebrews 6:19)
In a shifting, changing world, one thing is sure: You and God are locked in
together, both now and for eternity. You can count on Him being there.
(3) "Everyone who has this HOPE...purifies himself, just as he is pure."
(I John 3:3)
Having gained an eternal perspective, Christ's followers now live cleansed
lives: They clean up their act...daily.
Have a great week!
