Presenting ...
... a weekly letter of encouragement.

Good Morning!
QUESTION: "What qualities is God looking for in our lives that signal a person who is growing spiritually mature? Paul's writings repeatedly cite three:
FAITH, HOPE and LOVE.
Let's take FAITH:
"Without FAITH it is impossible to please God. For he who comes to God must believe He:
- Exists...
- Rewards those who seek Him." (Hebrews 11:6)
Job is a good example of a man with FAITH:
He had everything going for him: Wealth, a great family and friendship with God.
Then the bottom falls out:
- His kids die, the business goes down the drain; he finds his body covered
with boils...and God seems a million miles away. (Job, chapter #1)
- And his crotchety wife tells him to "curse God and die."
Job's response however is to worship God:
"Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I shall return...The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord." (Job 1:20, 21)
So what do you do when everything around you seems to be crashing and burning?
Curse God? or worship God?
Job's response: "Though He slay me yet I will trust Him..." (Job 13:15)
That is FAITH. And that is what pleases God.
Have a great week!

P. S. Oh...I almost forgot: God restores Job's losses...two fold! (Job 42: 10 - 17)
