JULY 1ST IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE 40-DAY FAST for the Church in Singapore. This 40-day fast is called in conjunction with Day to Change Our World scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 1997. July 1st also marks the launch of PrayerWave Asia, a prayer project pioneered by the AD2000 United Prayer Resource Network of Singapore. PrayerWave Asia is a dynamic expression of Singapore's call as an Antioch for Asia. The vision is to unite prayer networks [old and new!] all over Asia for God's Kingdom purposes in Asia. While the Hong Kong handover is a strong motivation for this July 1st initiative, the real reasons are less obvious. Asia watchers are feeling this nagging sense that much more is going on in Asia than is visible or intelligible to most of us. Time is short, and the hour to pray is urgently NOW! The prayer theme of is "LET MY PEOPLE GO!" based on the Exodus story. The call is for the Asian Church to join in a chorus of prayer on behalf of the hundreds of unreached people groups among us still without access to the gospel. Many of these people groups are groaning in their enslavement to the "pharaohs" of their land, both natural and spiritual. God is hearing their groans. God is concerned. He wants to meet the Church in a burning bush encounter. He wants to send many Moses to deliver unreached peoples from their bondage in a Red Sea crossing. This July 1st, join with likeminded Christians across Asia and around the world in WAVE of PRAYER for the spiritual future of our vast continent. This is one way in which you, your church, missions organization, or network can get involved:
SYNCHRONIZED PRAYER PLANIn multiple small groups in villages and cities across Asia, and around the world, join with God's people as they pour out their souls in united fasting and fervent intercession for at least ONE hour from 12 noon to 1 pm on July 1st. In this way, across the time zones from Japan to India, PrayerWave Asia will flow like one mighty river for 5 uninterrupted hours of power!
IN SINGAPORE, the AD2000 United Prayer Track, in cooperation with the Joshua Project 2000 Network, will convene a "PrayerWave Asia" gathering at St Andrew's Cathedral from 12 noon to 1 pm. We hope to involve at least 300 Christians (Gideon's Army): 10 for each of the 30 Asian nations covered in PrayerWave Asia (see list below). Who will make up this 10 to stand in the
gap FOR each nation? Gideon organized his army in 3 companies. Likewise, this 10 could very well comprise 3 specific groups of Christians:
