The Ravells are busy using the time available to establish contacts, make friends, and witness of their faith in Christ. Since April a small group has been meeting in their home. We are studying the book of John. Each night includes small talk, a time of personal sharing, prayer, Bible study, and supper. We conclude with prayer for a different country of the world each week. At the same time, the children do activities and studies at the dining room table. With this Lord's help, this group will be firmly established by the end of the year. We are also praying that another group can commence in early 1997.
Making contacts is and will be a slow process. Knowing this makes it especially exciting when opportunities arise. One of the women in our K Group (small group) mentioned that a woman she once worked with had moved to Auckland. When they had worked together, the woman had spoken about wanting to become a Christian. After getting her address and arranging a visit, we realized she had moved right into our community! As a result, she and her three children are now attending the K Group. Please pray for this family and their assimilation into the group.
Some members of our K Group joined several thousand other Christians to walk down the main street of downtown Auckland on May 25 for the annual March for Jesus. It was tremendous to participate in a march with no denominational banners and labels--just banners proclaiming the name of Jesus.
Among other things, the Ravells are seeking to make contact with people from the Church of God overseas who have moved to New Zealand. Already contact has been made with two families, although both live in other parts of the country.
Please pray as this fledgling group seeks to reach out and grow into a congregation that will be an effective witness to Christ in this country.
